With more than 30 years of experience, Mike McFarlane provides advice and counsel with a particular focus on the rights and obligations associated with the ownership of real estate. He has substantial experience in representing sellers, buyers, creditors, borrowers, landlords, and tenants when navigating transactions as well as disputes. Mike has appeared before state and federal courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court of Virginia.
In 1999, Mike founded Highland Title + Escrow, a lay settlement company and title insurance agency, devoting his primary attention to the process of financing, conveying, and insuring residential real estate in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

Mike lives in the Town of Herndon, is married with four children, and actively volunteers in his community. He currently serves on the Town of Herndon’s Planning Commission and was previously a member of the Historic District Review Board.
